The service
The hammam is the most demanding room in a house: steam and heat put the waterproofing, the ventilation and every finish to the test. A defect that is invisible on day one becomes water ingress or render coming away a few months later.
We build traditional hammams with a vault, bench and boiler, steam generator cabins that fit into a bathroom, full spas with a relaxation room and showers, and we renovate existing hammams. Mason, plumber, electrician and the master craftsman (maâlem) for tadelakt or zellige are coordinated as one team.

Home hammam: your questions.
01How much space is needed?
A steam generator cabin fits into four to six square metres. A hammam with a bench and a scrub area ideally needs eight to twelve square metres, plus a plant room nearby for the generator or the boiler.
02Boiler or steam generator?
A wood or gas boiler gives the heat of a traditional hammam, and needs space and a flue. An electric generator is compact and heats up quickly; its output is calculated from the volume of the room, and a water softener protects it from limescale.
03Does tadelakt hold up in a hammam?
Yes, it is the traditional hammam plaster, provided it is applied to a sound, watertight substrate and maintained with black soap. On a damp or cracked substrate it eventually comes away: hence the waterproofing test before it is applied.
